I first read Hunter S. Thompson when he wrote an article for "Rolling Stone" before Jimmy Carter's ran for president in 1974. He was the only one who pegged Carter as winning.

Thompson is not a role model for kids, but in between detox sessions, he is a very good writer with good political insight.
